About the TRC
The city of Tuebingen has a long-standing tradition in excellent research, as it is home to one of Germany’s oldest universities, founded in 1477. More recently, a number of top-level non-university research institutes have established themselves in the city. They include Max Planck Institutes, institutions of the Leibniz Association and the Helmholtz Association, and others. They all contribute to making Tuebingen a unique place to do research, as very few other locations offer such a close-knit and interwoven community of scientific excellence.
Tuebingen breathes research: University facilities and research institutes are located all over the city, giving the entire town a campus atmosphere.
In the Tuebingen Research Campus (TRC), the University and the research institutes in Tuebingen have joined forces. Together, they will work on common research focus areas, keeping science made in Tuebingen at the forefront of academic endeavor. They cooperate in research projects, in sharing facilities, in nurturing emerging academics, and in welcoming scientists from all over the world to Tuebingen.
The Tuebingen Research Campus aims to further intensify cooperation among Tuebingen’s research institutes, to make Tuebingen visible as a location where world class research is carried out, and to offer joint services to scientists.
